ABOUT THE U14's
DC U14 girls are the official N.I champions of 2002. After a very successful season the girls have already collected 3 trophies in just 2 years. They were established in 2001 by Barry McGreevy (Senior Ladies Manager) who realised the talent of many local kids and wanted to get them involved with the club. Now one of the biggest Junior Clubs in the country, the girls will be looking to retain their title come june and have signed a few new players to help them do this. The team is managed by Emma Morgan, who is a qualified coach and also a player in the DC Ladies Senior team. The U14's very well supported and encouraged by the Andersontown News and our club and hope we can repay them with more success in the near future!
U14 Achievements
Jun 2001 - Finished 4th in league
Dec 2001 - NI Junior Plate Winners
Jun 2002 - N.I League Champions
Oct 2002 - FAI 5-a-side Plate Winners The DC U14 girls recieved their first silverwear last year when the overcame a difficult Rathcoole team in the final of the NI Plate competition. DC entered two teams and both teams did excetpionally well, meeting each other in the semi-final. A 3-0 win for the A-team was enough to secure a place in the final were a Golden Goal from Lauren Moore gave the girls the trophy!
The best achievement so far for the girls was when they were crowned NI champions of 2002. An excellent season saw the girls win the league title with a point to spare over big rivals Belfast United. The final day of the season saw a 1-1 draw with Newington (rachel McCaffrey scored) and this was enough to give us our second trophy in one year, all in all a great achievement for the girls and the club.
